![]() ![]() Any help is greatly appreciated,I really love this musical form and want to learn what I can to play it properly. I've even bought a requinto just to learn this style. I've noticed that many of the songs by the groups I have mentioned have II-V-I progressions in them, but I am also curious how to capture that distinct Mexican sound. They are more along the jazzy side of this genre, and I am curious how to write chord progressions following their styles, and the scales that I can use over these progressions. Could anyone please lend me some wisdom on the fundamentals to writing compositions in this genre? I am thinking more particularly of groups like Los Tres Ases, Los Tres Caballeros, and Alvaro Carrillo. Lately I have been listening to beautiful Mexican boleros from the 1950s-1960s and trying to understand the principles involved in writing this style of music. I favor nylon strings over steel and electric. ![]() Hello! I am new to the sub,I am 23 and have been playing guitar for about 6 years. ![]()
